As some of you may know, I have migraines. Daily migraines. Sometimes they get better, and I get writing done. Sometimes they get worse, and I don’t. The last couple of months were an excursion in worse.
The good news is that I eventually figured out what was going wrong and fixed it.
My most significant migraine trigger is estrogen. If you are cis-female and come with the usual parts, it’s hard to avoid having estrogen without taking the parts out. I did get substantial relief from an Implanon I got three years ago in June. I happen to be stuck on Medicare (this is Mitt Romney’s fault. Long story), and Medicare was not covering contraception (even contraception used for migraine control), so the implant cost me $3,000.
This past June the Implanon expired. Small problems followed. Bigger problems followed the small problems. By mid August I was incapacitated. Once I figured out what was going on, it took a month to sort out doctors’ appointments. I got a new Implanon this past Monday. I also got a pleasant surprise–Medicare covered the entire cost. It seems that Medicare quietly started covering contraception at some point in the recent past. Obama saved me $3,000!
Now I’m very tired. Work on the Wishbone sequel will resume shortly.
Hope you feel better looking forward to finishing Wishbone, and already excited about a sequal. (^_^)
I just finished “Wishbone”. It was amazing. I am super excited about the next installation in the series. Thank you so much for writing the story. ^_^
