I do proofreading for court reporters and get paid by the page. I charge 40 cents per page for 25 lines per page in a typical transcript. I would think proofing a manuscript would be more work as there are more line per page but I agree that $30.00 per hour is a bit much.

Computers in general consume enormous amount of time. So do books Lately I prefer my Sony reader to my Sony laptop. It’s somewhat easier to stop reading a book than to stop playing a game or chat with your friends on-line. I refuse to be sucked into one of those on-line games that facebook throws at us.
However, living in the suburbs leaves internet almost the only means of communication with your friends (not a big fan of long phone calls) **sigh** …hence here I am, sitting at my desk in the middle of the day, ignoring my children. OK, they ignore me first – how many times can one say “go clean your rooms”? you’d be surprised.
